Western Feeling
Josh Martin and Chris Howarth met in 2022 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Both had played in various projects back in the Bay Area and beyond, drawing heavy influence from psychedelic folk and indie rock artists like Sufjan Stevens, The Flaming Lips, and Tame Impala. But when they crossed paths in the shadow of the Rockies, they felt that sound didn’t quite fit the culture and landscapes of Colorado.

Western Feeling was born from a desire to capture the unique inspiration and nostalgia that only mountain dwellers truly understand. Drawing from Cosmic Country pioneers like The Flying Burrito Brothers, the Topanga Canyon sound of the ’70s, and ambient music, they’ve crafted a sound that feels both grounded and expansive—a sonic experience shaped by the West.
